Support for BlackBerry PlayBook

With all the various tablets out there, it makes sense to me to at least have the eye-fi card show up as a network hard drive so you can at least manually copy files off it.

Hi, Just a few works for the eye-fi engineers:

Many playbook users would like to enjoy the app (such as me, playbook user an professional photographer. But in fact, getting a playbook app from a n android app is really easy for Eye fi developpers : check it on the blackberry developper zone h t t p s : / / b d s c . w e b a p p s . b l a c k b e r r y . c o m / a n d r o i d / .

If they want to, Eye fi engineers can put their app on the playbook in a few minutes, for free, and satisfy more clients !

Thanx

Playbook OS 2.0 is now available and many people are purchasing it for under $200. This is the perfect economical combination. Please submit your Android application to Blackberry to make it available for usage on the Playbook.

I installed today on my Playbook 16 gig, the android app for eye-fi. I obtained it from the goodereader.com people at no cost. I think they slightly modify the app so that you must use their installer, which resides on your computer.
I placed their installer on my Win 7 computer, and downloaded from their store the android app to my Playbook .

I use a Classic 2 gig Share card in my A540.
So long as the camera and Playbook are in the same wi-fi zone, all works well. My first generation card also handles raw so long as i use chdk's ability to add jpg as a suffix.

So I take a picture with the Canon, send it to the Playbook via wi-fi, and send it to my computer and flickr from the Playbook via wi-fi.

Those who have X2 cards can do all this with video also.

Probably direct mode too, for X2 cards.

My last few flickr images went up that way.

I am now sending video as well as jpegs and raw from my Eye-fi card to my Playbook and hence to my laptop- thanks to CHDK in my Canon A540.

The files must go through the Playbook to reach the laptop. Uploading to Flickr of video is only from the laptop.
Jpegs will still independently go from the sd card to flickr.

Bought a 4GB Class 4 EyeFi SD instead of a similair priced 32GB Class 10 SD just to use the 64GB inside my Playbook =).

Although I have 2 requests:
1. Could you make your App Available in the BlackBerry App World so you can push updates to us instead of us keep sideloading the latest versions we might find.
2. Could you use the "Standard" android function for Media Folder selection. The option to change it is not available on the Playbook but now the images are not available within the Native Pictures app, something an app like Scope for Android does. Could be something like the MediaStore Class =). Scope has a Folder within the Native Playbook picture app with all pictures of that App inside, would be great to see a EyeFi Folder in there as well =).

With a little help I found out that a the Playbook now has access to a Ported Console (mediafire com/ ?bd0z49s5lwrawh0, remove the spaces and add a dot before com).

This way I'd been able to create a SymLink which enable me to use the Picture App instead of just a folder used for just that app.

ln -s /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android/Pictures/Eye-Fi /accounts/1000/shared/misc/android/Eye-Fi

Not sure if I typed it right, but with a little linux knowledge you get the idea.

I can get the card and PC talking but am not able to transfer to the Playbook using direct mode. I know its a bit late asking now but would the type of card make any difference? I bought the Sandisk version.
