Transfer mode based on network

Postby jjoshua » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:01 pm

I would like be able to set the transfer mode based on the network that I'm connected to.

For example, if connected to my home network, I would like to force a direct connection, no relay, no internet at all.

Conversely, if I'm connected elsewhere, then enable relay mode.

Changing the transfer mode each time I use my camera in a different place is cumbersome.

I second this. It would be great to have the Eye-Fi card upload to a folder on my computer when it connects to my home Wi-Fi network and to my iPad (either the Eye-Fi app or Shuttersnitch app) when no network is detected (and it is forced into Direct Mode), with no need for any settings to be changed by me.

Any chance of this, in the future?

I am under the impression that it does just this- if the card is set to relay and/or geolocate.

Fir example you want your pic's on your home pc. If you connect to the same network as your home pc then the system is smart enough to put the pictures on your PC directly.

You can watch the cache's on your pc to see this happen- also I'm pretty sure there are posts elsewhere in these forums from eyefi employees explaining that's how it works. (check the geo taggin threads- I believe they explained the picture is cached on the local machine then the small amount of info needed for location is sent up to the servers- then the location is sent back and stuck in the picture file and it's pulled form the cache and put 'in the open' on your PC)
