Compability to Linux/Wine

Postby Makere on Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:39 am

Hi,

I wish you would make Eye-Fi Helper to be compatible with Linux/Wine. I think this shouldn't be too hard since I can get the Helper application to run already with Wine, just won't let me put any settings to it. (Tried replacing the xml-file, keeps overwriting it)

EDIT: I actually got this to work by copying also the master.db and EyeFi.log (as with the settings.xml), still gives couple errors in the console, but it works and I hope it will keep working.
EDIT2: Was too fast, it still keeps losing settings, got it to upload one picture, so this shouldn't be a big bug.

Hi,

I also wish to have a NATIVE Linux EyeFi Programm since the Wine thing allways gives trouble. Please compile the versions also for Linux. Thanks.

Hi,

how is the update on the Linux Request? As far as I can see in other Threads there seem to be a lot of problems to port the EyeFi Manager under Wine or so.
Is there really no possibility to get the EyeFi card nativly running under Linux without a Windows or mac Computer???!!! At this time I could not believe that the EyeFi Team are so closed-minded!

There isn't a GUI version for Linux, but there are a couple of different versions of background services/daemons that are out there... More info can be found in this thread:

I got the Eye-Fi Helper to run with wine, has been running steadily for around a month.

How:
1) Have latest wine
2) I'm not sure which of these all are needed, but I have installed mfc42, msvcirt, vcrun2008, vcrun6sp6 and vcrun6 with winetricks
3) Do config on Windows PC and copy the config over
4) Launch Eye-Fi Center, after the Helper has launched, you can close the Center (Center didn't work for me)

If you launch the Helper directly, it will override the settings. So I wish there would be small fixing in here so that the Helper doesn't override the config file.
