Discussion related to Wi-Fi routers/AP used with Eye-Fi Cards

Cisco 5508/Aironet 1041N

Postby randygrolemund » Mon Aug 15, 2011 1:52 pm

I just installed a new wireless network using a Cisco 5508 controller and 15 Aironet 1041N's in lightweight mode. Our cellphones, tablets, laptops, and iPad's connect to the network without any issues. For some reason I cannot get a single Eye-fi card to work on our network. I keep getting that "Booo, cannot connect" prompt.

I have tried WPA with either AES or TKIP, and the same with WPA2 with either AES or TKIP - no luck with any combination.

When I look at the network list I see my wireless network listed for each access point that is in the building, this only shows up like this with the Eye-fi card.

Any ideas?

I submitted my inital post over a month ago......150 people have viewed this post, and not 1 single response - not even from Eye-Fi themselves? We purchased 5 of these cards, and had planned on ordering 20 more for our exam rooms. Another client of mine will most likely need 40-50 camera's with wifi access. It would be nice to find out if there is a solution to my problem before I have to take our business somewhere else.

do you get the same thing when the network is open? Not recommending this as solution but a data point.

also, if you can PM me a card log after attempting to add your network to the card, it would be helpful trying to figure out what's going on.

to get the card log, click on the Eye-Fi Helper icon running in your Windows task bar
Select 'Get Eye-Fi Card log'
save the file and send it my way

Hi Jeremiah,

Yes, I tried without security and got the same results. The Eye-Fi card is the only device that cannot connect. I have users with various Android Phones, iPhones, iPads, and Laptops all connected. This particular location has 5 Aironet antenna's and excellent signal throughout the clinic.

Also, I think I saw somewhere that the Eye-Fi card is intended for home users...... is this true? I was recommended your product by an electronic medical software vendor as an inexpensive method of getting low cost digital cameras in to the exam room which would allow for quick uploading of an image to a patient's record.

Thanks for any assistance.

I wanted to give a quick update. I just installed the newest firmware update for my card and it is working with my Cisco system now. Thanks for providing this update :)

Hi guys, today I started experiencing issues again with the eyefi cards. It has pretty much been flawless since the patch that fixed Aironet connectivity. I've tried everything - reset access points, reset WAP controller, reboot pc, try a different USB reader, remove and try to re-add network......all to no avail. The closest access point is 20 feet away and my laptop and phone are connected to it.

Here is the log from the card, any ideas?

It also appears that the Cisco 5508 is identifying the efe-fi card as a rogue access point:

Wed Jun 13 13:17:58 2012 Rogue AP : 00:18:56:2a:74:21 with Internal mode added to the Classified AP List.

Wed Jun 13 12:51:15 2012 Rogue AP : 00:18:56:2a:74:21 removed from Base Radio MAC : d0:c2:82:ae:3e:a0 Interface no:0(802.11n(2.4 GHz))

Disregard, it appears setting the mandatory speeds to G or N on the 5508 cause the eyefi card to lose communication.
