Change direct mode folder on iPad

Postby fubs on Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:56 pm

Hi,

Would like to know if it is possible to change the direct mode upload folder on iPad?

Right now the Eye-fi card uploads all the pictures into one folder on the iPad. It gets messy after a while (and heavy, takes quite a while to load all the pictures in it).

Changing the upload folder will be great. At least there will be some kind of file organization :)

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for your request. Right now, there's no way for us to influence where the photo goes when we add it to the iOS Photo Library. However, in a future release of iOS we may be able to do this.

TUAW has a nice writeup on the new photo album features that are hopefully coming in iOS 5.

Out of curiosity, if/when we can implement a feature like this, how would you like us to determine what folder to put a photo into? With the Eye-Fi desktop software we put photos into different folders based on the date taken. Does that sound reasonable for an iOS device as well? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
alex

Being able to predefine (in the iOS app settings) a folder for the eye-fi card to upload into would be great. Just need to change the upload folder before I start taking pictures :) That way, I'll be able to group pictures by events.

Not sure if this is possible, but for me it will be very convenient. :D

Lets hope the features will come in iOS 5.

Thanks

Yes, this is a much needed feature. Sticking them in with the camera roll isn't a good way to transfer to the iDevice IMO. I would much rather see a dedicated Eye-Fi folder to keep photos separate from the iDevice photos. Or hopefully iOS 5 will give us the ability to put folders in folders for photos and thus we could have an Eye-Fi folder with DATE folders within to further organize photos transfered from Eye-Fi cards.

Also, I think with the ability to create new folders we will be able to see file nameing remain intact rather than changing to the iOS naming scheme. I know with the Camera Connection Kit for the iPad that new folders are created and file naming remains unchanged, so I would hope we can see this for the Eye-Fi transfers in a future update.

other ios apps can save photo on the app itself, can the Eye-Fi App store them internally on the app?

I would like to know what the status is of this request.

The current implementation prevents Apps like e.g. PhotoRaw for iOS to import RAW pictures uploaded by Eye-Fi Pro. If the location on the iPad could be changed that problem would be fixed as well.

Definately an important update.

I'll love to pass an ipad to client for viewing shots taken.
And that they're in a separate folder instead of them being together with my private pics..

IOS 6 is out now, and still the engineer tell me that this option is not possible. Apparently the Eye-Fi app hands off the picture to the iOS, from there the picture is dummped into the photo album. No change.

I'm sure that is a way to do this.

I'd also like to see the original file name remain the same. Current the picture is handed to the IOS and the IOS renames it to the next photo on its own trems.

I'd like to add my support for this feature. I currently use the 16GB Pro X2 for work assignments. Dumping all photos from every assignment (several hundred shots each) into the camera roll is unhelpful. It's surprising that a product marketed for professional use doesn't have this basic feature. Hope it's added soon.
