Ipad not seeing eye-fi wifi

Postby Spikeydevilbandit » Sun Jul 01, 2012 3:14 pm

I seem to be asking lots of questions at the moment ...

How long should it take for my iPad to see the eye-fi wifi ?
I can leave my camera (Canon EOS 1D mkiv) turned on and right next to the iPad but it just wont see it. This was taking as long as 5 minutes during which I take a few pictures to see if that will help ... It takes soooo long that my Ipad keeps locking ad going to sleep. As of now though, it just won't find the card wifi at all.

Along with all the other issues I'm experiencing I'm starting to wonder if my card in broken. To make things worse, I can't seem to find a phone number for customer services in the UK either!

I was tasked with testing this product to see if my work wanted to buy a job lot ... things are not looking good!

hi Spikeydevilbandit,

If the card is set to use Direct Mode, and has no other wi-fi networks around that it knows how to connect to, the "Eye-Fi Card" network usually appears within 10-20 seconds of shooting a new photo or video onto the card. If you've shot something new and the network hasn't appeared after 60 seconds, there's no use waiting any longer, there's an issue that needs to be resolved.

Make sure you're shooting JPEG and not RAW, remove any networks from the card in the Networks>Private Networks settings, and try again. The 1D Mark IV should stay on until uploads are finished, but on other cameras you may need to check the camera's sleep/power settings in case it's turning off too quickly.

If that doesn't help, we'll be happy to address that if you contact us by email, phone, or chat about this or the other issues you mentioned in the forums.

Thanks!

Looks like this one is now sorted as well .

Do you have phone support in the UK as I can't seem to find it?

Just one more question to be answered and I'm done!

Hi
I'm having a similar problem, in that my iPad will not recognise the eye-fi card wifi network.
I have the latest card firmware (brand new card and updated on initial setup), and I have the latest version of the iPad app.
I have disabled any other networks on the card, so the only option is direct mode.
When I put the card in my camera (Canon t3i/600D) and take some photos, no eyfi network appears on my iPad, even after several minutes.
I have been able to get the eyefi network to appear, but only under the following circumstances: when the card is not in the camera, but plugged into the computer using the USB adapter. Just being powered up via the USB alone is not enough though. When I fire up eyefi centre and go into "direct mode settings" and click "start direct mode network", then the eyefi card network is detected by my iPad. However, as soon as I unplug the eyefi card from the computer to put it back in my camera to take some more shots, the network disappears and I can't get it back again until I plug the card back into the computer and select "start direct mode network" again. I'm tethered to the computer - which completely defeats the purpose of being mobile with the iPad (the reason I bought the card!!)
Incidentally, the app seems to be working fine because whilst the card is in the USB reader and I have started the direct network, the iPad app loads all the recent photos I have taken (quite promptly). But again, as soon as I remove the card from the USB reader to put it back in the camera, it all falls apart.

PLEASE HELP!! I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out what on earth is going wrong!!

Many thanks!

I have the same problem as the customers above.

Card Type: Eye-Fi Connect X2 - 4GB
Camera Make: Olympus
Camera Model: EPL3
Phone: iPhone 4S

Card creates a network only when connected to the computer via card reader, but not when inside camera.

Yes, everything is up to date.
Yes, profile is installed.

Tried taking new photos.
Tried switching camera on and off.

Card will not create direct mode connection when inside camera.

After some more frustrated digging, it appears that there is an Eye-Fi on/off setting buried deep in the Olympus EPL3 settings menu. )I’m a geek and only discovered this by accident. How in the world are regular people supposed to find this stuff?)

Anyway.

— Only after taking a new photo, the Eye-Fi wife network appears on my iPhone
— I can connect to it, the spinning thing spins.
— I switch to the Eye-Fi app

Nothing.

No photos appear from the camera (yes, I’m shooting JPG.)

The Olympus even has a little green flashing wifi icon while it’s doing lord knows what.

Do you need to behead pygmy virgins to get this to work? I think I want a refund.

I agree, Olympus definitely buried that setting. I believe it's the same as http://support.eye.fi/camera-questions/ ... able-wifi/ - we're glad to hear that you found it.

When you connect the iPhone to Direct Mode and then return to the Eye-Fi app, what do you see in the box at the bottom of the app? Does it say "In Direct Mode"? "Unpaired Card"? Is there a little icon of a camera next to an iPhone? (This indicates the phone and card are connected using Direct Mode.)

Please try again to join Direct Mode with the card in the camera. If photos don't transfer, please plug the card into your computer using the card reader, and again join the Direct Mode network on the iPhone. If you still receive no photos, please send us your Eye-Fi card log. You can find the instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5776 Please email the log to support@eye.fi with a description of the issue and a link to this case and we'll help you get things working.

Thanks!

I'm having this happen with my iPhone4; I've changed the sliders on the card (via computer) to longest timer intervals, and uninstalled/reinstalled the iPhone app. When I start the app, it just stays Idle - any ideas?
