Eyefil helper slows down system

Postby zuark on Thu May 24, 2012 2:00 pm

Lately I have encountered a nasty issue with the Eyefi Helper. I am using the latest version of the SW (3.4.26) on 64 bit Win 7 system. I noticed two things: My pictures are no longer geotagged and my system is slowed down to an extent, that makes me very frustrated. Tried to drill down the problem, and found that the Eyefi helper used an overwhelming amount of disk resources (disc loaded 100%). Killing the corresponding process effectively elliminates the problem.

I also noticed, that every now and then, I receive a notification from the helper, that my pictures cannot be geotagged, and ask me if I want to continue. I have tried to say no, but this doesn't help.

No Eyefi cards are "on" or inserted in the PC when it happens.

The problem effectively leaves my system useless, and I hope that someone has a clue what's going on.

hi zuark,

It sounds like Eye-Fi Helper may be having trouble delivering one or more files in its queue. For each of the devices you have listed in Eye-Fi Center (other than My Activity), open the settings and make sure that Photos, Videos, and RAW (if available) are all enabled to save to your computer. http://support.eye.fi/cards/media/save-to-computer/
If you don't see some successful file deliveries and the issue persists, restart Eye-Fi Helper once more so it tries to complete any pending transfers.

If that still doesn't do the trick, please send us your your Eye-Fi Helper log files: Exit Eye-Fi Helper. Click your Windows Start button and search for "%APPDATA%" (without the quotes), which should open the folder
"C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming". Open the "Eye-Fi" folder. Look for any files named EyeFi, EyeFi.log or EyeFi.log.1, zip them all into an archive if you are able, and attach either the .zip file or those log files to an email to support@eye.fi. Let us know the steps you've tried so far and link to this thread. The Helper log will hopefully explain what is going on.

Thanks!

Checked all the above, but the Eye-Fi helper still halts my system.

Actually the files ARE transferred to my PC, they are just not geotagged any longer and as mentioned, my system is severely crippled by the helper app.

Log files are on their way.
