Adding photos to Eye-Fi Center that are already on computer

Postby Kandlelight » Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:34 pm

I have several photos that I had to "hand transfer" from the card to my computer due to card issues. Is there a way to add these photos to Eye-Fi Center so that I can upload them easily online?

Kandlelight,

You should be able to drag and drop photos into Eye-Fi Center from Finder or Explorer (wait until Eye-Fi Center is fully loaded before dropping any files). Once you see them in the tray at the bottom of Eye-Fi Center, you can either 'Publish' them or 'Email' them. When you click the 'Publish' button, you'll be presented with your list of online service profiles (such as Facebook or Flickr). Select the online sharing site that suits you best and the files will be sent via Eye-Fi Center to that destination.

Hope this helps

Ok,... thanks for the info Sean. I noticed this doesn't save them Eye-Fi Center? :( Is there anyway to get them to save in Eye-Fi Center?

Kandlelight,

If you drag and drop files from Finder or Explorer into Eye-Fi Center and then send those files to an online service like Flickr or Facebook (or if you click the 'Email' button either for that matter), these uploaded files will appear in the 'My Activity' section of Eye-Fi Center ('My Activity' should be on the left hand side of the application just below your Eye-Fi card icon). Note that these files will appear in 'My Activity' ordered by upload date as opposed to time taken date.

As you point out, if you don't send files to an online service, they will not be 'saved' in Eye-Fi Center. If you are looking for Eye-Fi Center to be a photo organization application, be aware that Eye-Fi Center will only show and display photos/videos which have passed through the Eye-Fi systems at some point or another.

Hope this clears up any ambiguity ... let me know if you have any other questions

Well, Sean, these were supposed to have passed through via my Eye-Fi card but it wasn't uploading correctly so I had to do it manually. :( Now I want those files that didn't upload correctly to be in my Eye-Fi... I know... LOL Picky picky. :)

Unfortunately there isn't a way to allow this at the moment - sorry to hear you had some issues with some of your Eye-Fi transfers.

If you'd like to be able to add files to Eye-Fi Center's history, please feel free to post to the feature requests forum: viewforum.php?f=10

If you have any other suggestions on what you'd like to see happen in Eye-Fi Center, please let us know.

Sean,
Does the method that you have described above still work with the newer version of the eye-fi center (drag and drop pictures from explorer to the drop zone in the lower part of the screen of the eye-fi center to upload them to the online service such as email or facebook) ?

I have eye-fi center 3.4.23 and it looks like I can not drag and drop the pictures into the drop zone of eye-fi center. Any solution ?

many thanks,

Sean,

I also want to know why this feature was removed. I'm not sure why I would need to ask for a feature to added when it was actually removed.

This used to work prior to the latest update of the Eye-Fi Center -- now I have to jump through hoops to post files to FB/Picassa/Flickr/etc. Not all of my files show up in the Center even though they are getting uploaded to my computer. I don't want all my photos going public and if they don't show up in the center, I can't use your nice drag&drop features. I don't want Eye-Fi Center to be my photo manager, I just want it to work seamlessly with the rest of my photos.

:-(

P.S.
You video shows drag&drop from anywhere into Eye-Fi Center at around 2:00 in.
