Automatic USB transfer

Postby alexander.awest » Sun Jun 24, 2012 8:44 am

Hey everyone. I am on my summer vacation and there is no wi-fi at the place I am staying at. Is there a way to do automatic transfers via USB and make sure that when I come back to my house that Eye-Fi Center doesn't download the same photos that I have imported with iPhoto?

hi alexander.awest,

Sorry, there's no option like that. Once you've imported the pictures from the card to the Mac, if you don't need them at all, you can delete them from the card (make sure to empty your Trash) or format the card in your camera. If you still want to save backup copies on the card itself, you could just move them out of the card's "DCIM" folder, and the Eye-Fi card will not try to upload them wirelessly.

Any chance of implementing such a USB transfer feature for use in areas of the world that don't yet have WiFi capability? Integrating this same concept for camera to computer and android to computer would be great!

I'm sorry, I should have also mentioned our Direct Mode feature! Any Eye-Fi X2 card can wirelessly transfer photos directly to a compatible device running our software with no wi-fi network needed - this would be any compatible Windows/Mac computer with wi-fi, or an iOS or Android device.

To send from Android to a computer using Eye-Fi, both devices would need an internet connection. If you want a solution that doesn't require wi-fi, you could connect the Android device via a USB cable.

Please feel free to add your voice to our Feature Requests forum if you'd like to request an option for us to transfer photos automatically via USB. Some users refer to this as "Impatient mode" and have discussed it in other threads, like viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1803&p=18679

Thanks for pointing me to a more active discussion on the topic, I'll check over there, but the impatient mode is exactly what I was thinking about!
