setup help for the iPad

Ok ive just got my 4gig connect x2 i have a nikon d800 and an iPad 3. I installed the software on my PC and it seems to work but i cant get things running on my iPad.

When logging in its constantly saying it cant connect to the eye fi servers and to check the internet connection. Thats fine and i can browse to various web pages. So thats basically it, my login details are correct but i cant get the iPad app started. What am i missing here? Also are you saying i will always need a net connection? my iPad isnt 3g, i want to use it in a studio environment to transfer files as im shooting to preview to the models. Why should i need a net connection for that?

My experience with the D800 and Ipad 2 was that it didn't work at all not for direct transfer or for private wifi networks even though I spent 90 min with tech support. The customer service team pretended that it works but if you look at these chat boards and others on dpreview and other sites you can see that this is a longstanding problem that they've known about since March of this year. The company should not be advertising that it works with a D800 as it clearly doesn't.
