Nikon S51 will not upload new photos

I submitted a case on Dec 17 Incident: 081217-000025 and still have not heard if anything is being done.

If I plug the card inbto the USB drive the photos transfer fine. But not via the camera. I had even put the camera next to the wireless router and that did nothing. Yes the power on the camera is on.

I forward the log file which has a error that I was told need to be looked at before I can get help. I bought the card for the holidays and today is Christmas Eve and it doesn't look like I will get to use it.

Besides not uploading photos yesterday the camera began telling me I cannot use the card.

I am hoping that someone out there has the S51 and can give me a hand at solving this.

I have just purchased the Eye-Fi Share card as well. I am having the same problem with the Nikon S51. This is horrible - trying to set this up in time for Christmas, but it seems like the card isn't compatible with the camera. I am able to take pictures but it won't upload them. And occasionally it will tell me that the card is unusable by the camera. If you find any solution to the problem - please post it here!

dw, have any photos upload when the card was in the camera? Where are you uploading photos to?

Julie, when you say that the card is unusable in the camera, what error message are you getting?

If I remove the card (Eye-FI Share) and insert it into the EYe-Fi adapter the picture will load to my computer. But not when the card is in the camera.

I also now have begun receiving the message "The card cannot be used". The way I get around this. I turn the camera off, the turn it on but hold down the power button until it is on and all of the display icons are showing.

I too have a Nikon CoolPix S51 that will not work with my Eye-Fi card. I know that the card is 100% functional because it works fine with my Nikon D90. I formatted the card with my S51, took a few photos, and absolutely nothing happened. I was hoping to use this card with this camera but I seem to be out of luck. Just as everyone else has noted the card works fine when plugged into the reader, but that defeats the purpose of the Eye-Fi card entirely. The only twist that I can offer is that the card does work with my D90, so my card is 100% not the problem. I too agree that it appears you can not use an Eye-Fi card with a Nikon CoolPix S51 camera which really sucks for all of us posting here. Eye-Fi please help! I'm a network admin with 8 years experience working with computers and will be glad to provide any diagnostic tests/info that you guys need to figure this one out because I really want to use this camera with my Eye-Fi card.

The error she is referring to, I think, is ""This card cannot be used!" (which seems to be a pretty generic sd card error for the CoolPix cameras)..... I've seen that one a few times as well with this card. I had to format the card with my D90 before that went away. I then was able to power up the S51 without the error coming up. I then formatted the card with the S51. I could take a pic but it never uploaded to my computer. I have the auto off time on my camera set to 30m so that is not that problem. I also have a perfect connection to my wifi (it is right next to me). The card simply never tries to upload pics to the computer. I could review the pics on the card without a problem and could upload them if I plugged the card into my computer.

Update, Troy from customer support sent me a message to insert my card into the computer, log into the manager. Under the Home tab, it should prompt me for a firmware update. I should update the firmware and my problems would be solved.

Only problem, no firmware update listed and no were to go to manually get it

I will reply to Troy and wait another week for a reply. Not very good customer support I am experience.

couple things. you should see the update that Troy previously mentioned to you. Secondly, we are ordering this camera to reproduce this issue in the office to get a better understanding of what is going on.

Just to chime in, I do not have an update listed either. I updated the card shortly after I received it a couple of weeks ago and did have a firmware update at that time.

Then shortly after your email magic. It appears. The version though is the same. But I updated anyway.

It did not correct the problem though.

But it is nice to hear the Eye-Fi has ordered the S51 to attempt to correct my issue. No I wonder how much long I will need to wait.

So disappointed about the card's issues with the S51. I was very excited about the technology, and mistakenly believed the company when I read (http://support.eye.fi/compatibility/) "Nikon
Eye-Fi is compatible with Nikon SD format models." I received the card today and got the same error everyone else is even after the firmware was updated. I'm going to send the card back to the retailer. I definitely am not going to wait for a fix that may or may not come. I'd be a little more understanding if this was a new camera, but this model has been out for more than a year. That's just unacceptable. I'd like to see a disclaimer listed on the referenced compatibility site regarding this model so other owners of this model won't get burned like I did, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm getting somewhat conflicting information from support. Can anyone confirm to me that they have an S51 that totally works with the card? The best support is offering is to send another card, which doesn't do me a lot of good if there is no way it will work with the camera.

I think there is some confusion on a couple issues.The Eye-Fi card works with the S51 in terms of saving photos just like any other SD card. The problem reported in this post is that the card is not uploading the photos from within the camera, but photos do upload if the card is inserted into the computer. We ordered a S51 and should be getting in the office early this week. I'll report back on what we find.

Wooo hooo, it works!!!
Ok, when I working at my computer tonight, a pop up message from Eye-Fi indicate an upgrade is available for Eye-Fi Manger. After installed the upgrade, I tried to take a picture using my Nikon CoolPix S51 and the picture uploaded successfully from the camera to my workstation harddisk.
