Eye-Fi App. For BlackBerry PlayBook

Postby kmacs » Tue Feb 21, 2012 3:03 pm

BlackBerry PlayBook just. Updated their OS and now allows some Android Apps on it.

These apps must be approved by BlackBerry before they can be used on their PlayBook

Can Eye-Fi. Create an app for PlayBook and or can they use the App already on Android Market? Or is it a
Hardware issue with PlayBooks that would not allow eye-fi to operate?

I would be thrilled if the Eye-Fi team made their Android app available on the Playbook! If you were to succeed, I'd be running out the door to grab a pair of Eye-Fi cards the instant the app is available!

I'm sure there's obstacles and limitations. But all us PB owners would really appreciate the effort if you tried!

Hi guys,

I'm the developper of RawVision, an app to read RAW files on tablets/smartphones.
Actually, RawVision is available on the App World for the PB.

The interesting point is that I just added Eye-Fi support. It is working great on Android, but unfortunatly, i was not able to have it working on the PB. The problem is not the app itself, but the Wifi layer.

Anyway, I'm on it and I'd really like to propose PB users with a valide solution for their Eye-Fi cards.

I too second a dedicated eye-fi app on the Playbook, even though there are working android ports here and there.
Does RawVision supports it now? (on this specific topic, remember not all the Eye-fi cards support raw!)

My Classic 2 gig Share transfers raw to my Playbook or computer.

The catch is that my CHDK software in my Canon A540 allows relabelling of my avi and raw files as jpegs.
I can then send the files to my computer or Playbook. They also show up on Eye-fi view. But not flickr.

7043prof, I understand you are talking of sending raw files via an old card, but in the meanwhile do you mean you did install a port from the Android application on your Playbook?
TIA!

goodereader.com has a collection of preconverted/sidebarred android apps that can be loaded to my Playbook by their loader which I install on my computer.

The eye-fi android app is one. This means that at home or Starbucks I can take a photo/video/raw with my camera and it appears on my Playbook. It then moves on to my computer.

If I use the Connectify software router in my computer, the pictures simultaneously move to the Playbook and computer. Having trouble though getting reliable Connectify performance.

Thank you for this. I'll have a closer look to this loader!

And I hope this will motivate Eye-fi for compiling a real native port of their own!

Hi,

I just ordered an eye-fi card to use with my Playbook and camera. I have heard positive results on other forum boads of other people using the Android Player on Playbook with this software. The Playbook has 1080p HDMI output the only 7" tablet on the market that can do that. Please Eye-Fi folks, port your application and make it available to download through the Blackberry App Store.

I would love to be able to use the new Eye-fi Pro X2 on my Playbook. A native app would be much preferable to sideloading an android one. I will need to check out all the details before I invest in one. I have not sideloaded before and am nervous about doing it.

My primary uses for the Eye-fi card would be to be able to do these things with NO computer:
* Backing up my camera in the field and on trips
* Getting a more detailed view of my shots on the 7" screen
* Showing them on the TV in my hotel room from my Playbook
* Doing some simple editing and size reduction on my Playbook
* Being able to email photos from my camera with my Playbook

The Eye-fi card would be a very useful tool if it works correctly. I have checked and it works with my Nikon D90 okay.

Cheers,

+1

I am interested in this. It would be nice to get a client for Z10, Q10 and the Playbook.
