Zip & upload to ftp

Postby ksraghavendra on Sat Apr 28, 2012 12:19 pm

I have ordered an Eye-fi card, yet to receive & start using it. I plan to use it with my android mobile, is it possible to zip a set of photos & upload to ftp. I have a small app running on my server which will unzip these & do some processing. There are many other apps in android market which can do this, but just wondering if this option is inbuilt in the eye-fi app.
Thanks in advance,

hi ksraghavendra,

The card can only upload your original media files, there are no available options to zip them. If your FTP server is publicly accessible, hopefully you will be able to add it to your Eye-Fi account, and you can configure the software to send your photos to FTP either automatically or on-demand using the Android app. We can't zip them, we can just send the photos one by one. There is also an option to shrink them to one of a few different resolutions before they are sent to the FTP server.

Hi jsun,
Thanks a lot for your reply! I found an API for developers to build web apps that connect to Eye-fi, is there anything similar for mobile app development? We are building a prototype for an internal project where a batch of images have to be zipped & sent thru ftp, where some image processing has to be carried out. Is there scope for building custom mobile apps that can interact with the Eye-fi cards?
