DHCP Timeout

Postby frankxxx » Sun Jul 01, 2012 9:12 am

Hallo,
I got a timeout from my DHCP server. I updated the Firmware of my Router. I tried a lot of settings but I can't get it working. I read that it is possible to get a beta firmware for the Eye-Fi card. How I have to order it?

Yep, moderator here.

We are looking to release new firmware to the beta program next week. When this firmware is released I will be approving new signups then. There are currently a few problems with the current beta firmware, so I am holding off from approving new beta users until out newest firmware is finished.

Sure, we have a release in the pipe. As long as you followed instructions for signing up to the beta program you will be notified when approved and you can update your firmware.

frankxxx,

I have set your card for 5.0009. This is exactly the same as 5.0008, but we made some changes to the way DHCP works. Please upgrade and let me know what results you get. Sorry for the long delay, and thank you for your patience.

highway446, could you please provide me your Eye-Fi cards MAC address? I can flag your card for this update as well.

danb

Hi danb,

I updated my card with 5.0009. It is still the same: DHCP timeout.
When do you expect to provide us with the newest version?

Frank,

I flagged your card for 5.1002. Could you please upgrade your card and try again? If you have the same problem, can you please provide me with the following:

What type of router are you using? Is it running the latest router firmware? How close to the wireless router are you when tying to use the card? Can you provide a card log after a failure occurs? Here are instructions on how to retrieve the card log:

1. Insert your Eye-Fi card into your camera
2. Take 5 pictures
3. Wait 5 minutes to give the photos a chance to upload
4. Remove the card from your camera *
5. Insert the Eye-Fi card into the USB card reader and into your computer
6. Click on the Eye-Fi Helper icon in the Apple Menu Bar or in the Windows Task Bar
7. Select "Get Eye-Fi card Log..." from the menu. You may have to wait several seconds, but, in a moment, you will be asked where to save the Eye-Fi card log file
8. Save the Eye-Fi card.log file to your computer hard drive and reply to this forum thread with your log file attached

Hi danb,

I am using the Fritzbox Cable 6360 (Firmware: FRITZ!OS 05.20).
2,4 GHz, WPA2 protected.
Distance card from router is about 3 meters, one wall between.
I see in the router that the card speed is 1MBit/s.
I assume that this is the first initial speed to get the right settings.

I tried before the following:
There is a setting in the router:
Access for all WLAN devices / Access only for known WLAN devices
Known WLAN devices means that the MAC address is known.
I set the setting to "Accesss to all WLNA devices" and it seems to be working.
But then there is no restriction to the MAC address.
I changed it back and it is not working anymore.
But I added the MAC adress to the known addresses.

Log file is attached.

Hi,
one more information:
Normally all my mobile devices are connected to the Fritzbox. I also have an Airport Express. I never used the Airport for WLAN devices. Now I activated the WLAN and connected the Eye Fi card to the Airport. It is working very well. I am very pleased with the Airport. :D
I think this behaviour with my Fritzbox came with the last firmware update of the Fritzbox. :?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Frank

Hi,

just to add to my experience here after some fiddling.
I also own a FritzBox Cable 6360 with OS 05.20 (firmware provided by the cable provider, so no chance to update the firmware).

The Eye-Fi card will run reproducably into a DHCP timeout if the WLAN settings are configured to WPA2 (WPA2 CCMP specifically) or WPA/WPA2 mixed mode.
The first setup works fine for the first time after WLAN has been started on the router, but further connects are failing (Both when setting up on the Eye Fi Center and in the camera itself).
Attached is a Eye-Fi Log with a succesful connection and a subsequent non-successful connection.

As I didn't want to change to WPA only I have setup a WPA only "Guest account", basically a second SSID on the same router in a different IP Address range.
It works flawlessly with that SSID for all of my three eye-fi-cards.

This solution works for me as I am using online upload / relayed transfer all the time and don't need the direct connection.
