Some more results:
Plates-removed /it quite easy whit this adapter/. Range-improved. Speed-improved.
About 200shots - no problem at all.
...BUT I had ERR 02 when tried the old 5d - 30 shot 3 times I recieved ERR 02
Soon I'll make about 400 shots every day and will write here for the stability of the components.

Remember -- this adapter works ONLY in UDMA cameras. The old 5D didn't support UDMA. So I would stick with the 7D and 5DmkII.

We also tried it in a Nikon D70 and a Canon 40D. Didn't work, because neither of them support UDMA.

Thanks for the update on the improved speed and range. Makes sense :-)

BTW, doing a quick search on DPReview, for UDMA support, yields the following current cameras:

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV (but this camera is Eye-Fi Connected and has an SD slot, so it makes 0 sense to use an adapter here)
Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Canon EOS 50D
Canon EOS 7D
Nikon D3X
Sony Alpha DSLR-A900
Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

and these are older models, that support UDMA:

Sony Alpha DSLR-A350
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (but it has an SD slot)

As the owner of a 1Ds III and former owner of the 1D III, I can confirm that the 1Ds IS UDMA while the 1D is not.
Just about all other aspects of the cameras are the same with the exception of the obvious (frame rate and sensor size).

The Eye-Fi cards have worked great in every 1D body I have tried them on (1D II, 1D III & 1Ds III)

Anyone have a working link to purchase the DeLock Compact Flash Adapter for SDXC, #61796?

Thanks in advance.

I browsed the forum and found this:

http://www.delock.com/kaufen/reseller.html?country=USA

Again, to be completely transparent, I have to remind you -- this is unsupported by Eye-Fi.

Thanks --

Thanks --Ziv.

And I have to be completely transparent, will share the truth for the moment - more than 300 shots /with 5d2/ - no problem AT ALL. The last 2 days I'm shooting RAW+sJPG in a studio. iPad /+shutersnitch/ router /G not N/- 5m distance is not a problem and few second after the shot I've got 10" preview.
... after 1 year of thinking before the purchase - Sooo HAPPYyyyy with EYE-Fi 8G PRO X2.

Here is an easy way to get the adapter, from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K079UU

I verified with the adapter manufacturer, and this is the correct product as he "DeLock" adapter that's in this thread. DeLock is a brand in Europe, but the one that is selling on Amazon is the non-branded version, by the adapter manufacturer. They are identical.

May I ask what to do if the pics are stuck in the card /5d2/ and don't transfer to a iPad /through Shutersnitch/. Everything goes fine until a moment when it stops to transfer and the pics remain in the card... if I make new collection in Shutersnitch I'm back in the game.
Both camera and iPad are set to switch off after 15min, and are fully charged... I shoot in constant speed- pic every minute, ... I'm afraid to format the card, and still is not formated, if these things make sence.

I can confirm that the Canon 7d and the 5d MK2 both work with the Delock #61796 sd to cf adapter. Transferring perfectly with no errors.

UPDATE:

With the latest Eye-Fi firmware 5.0001, the X2 card + UDMA CF adapter combo DOES NOT work in the 5DmkII and 7D.

BTW, I wanted to keep everyone current. We'll take a bit of a different approach with this one, and ask you, our users, for help.

All testing should be done with an X2 card.

Eye-Fi users out there, if you'd like to help test this adapter, get it from B&H, and test it with any of the following UDMA based cameras. Keep us posted. Based on your feedback, we'll decide if it should be supported, or not:

UDMA Type II bodies:

Canon EOS 7D (some users have been reporting ERR 02's, even with the latest 7D firmware)
Canon EOS 1D Mark IV (but this camera is Eye-Fi Connected and has an SD slot, so it makes 0 sense to use an adapter here)
Canon EOS 5D Mark II (some users have been reporting ERR 02's, even with the latest 5DmkII firmware)
Canon EOS 50D
Canon EOS 7D
Nikon D3X
Nikon D3
Nikon D300
Sony Alpha DSLR-A900
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (but it has an SD slot)

Here is the B&H link:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/8 ... to_CF.html

Thx --

Ziv,

Although I have the 1Ds III and soon 1D IV, I just picked up the card adapter purely for testing purposes.
Will be happy to report back the results.

I'm curious what will happen with an adapter (with Eye-Fi) in the CF slot and SD Eye-Fi card in the other and shoot to both with same resolution.
Will Eye-Fi have difficulty processing two identical files simultaneously?

Rick,

Awesome question. I wish that every Canon pro user had 2 Eye-Fi Cards in their DSLR :-)

No problem in having 2 cards. It's just like having 2 cards in the D7000. You can have RAW go to one, and JPG to another, backups, one going locally, another to the cloud, etc... The possibilities are endless :-)

Just registered to tell that the combination of the DeLock 61796 and Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB works like a charm with my 5D MKII. Just made one of my first pictures and transfered it wirelessly with this combination :)

Tried burst with RAW+JPG. Until 10 pictures 4 FPS, and then slowed down. Camera displays 'busy'. It took a while until the photos were written on the card, but no error messages.

Made a movie of 1.5GB, no problems. Looks good so far :D

Ya, I think that my D300s has a similar sized buffer. But as the buffer is being written to the card, you should be able to keep shooting, albeit at a slower rate.

Thanks for reporting.

The adapter is $14.98 on Amazon
Eye-Fi X2 Cards start at less than $49: http://www.eye.fi/where-to-buy

If anyone could confirm this works for a Canon 40D as well, I may have a reason to re-purchase a Pro X2 card again.

I've subscribed to this thread, I hope to see good news!

Please read the thread carefully. The 40D isn't supported with this adapter, since it's not a UDMA camera.

Well, tha sucks. I just followed the link from twitter and obviously didn't read the whole thing since the link Eye-fi tweeted took me to page 4. I'm crushed now. No new Eye-fi for me any time soon then.

For your 40D, here is more info:

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_ ... 0055-10851

But that's a totally separate thread from this topc, and I'd like to keep this thread on the UDMA adapter and on UDMA bodies.

Hi,

Great thread! I too have a 5D MkII and I shoot in Raw, so I'll need the Pro x2, but any idea where I can find a cheap supplier of the DeLock 61796 in the UK?

Amazon only seem to have US & German suppliers who don't ship to the UK.

Cheers

Got my adapter today from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K079UU

Initial test with Canon 1Ds III with two cards inserted, one in CF adapter, the other SD slot, both set to small .jpg.
Both configured identically and set to upload to separate folders on the same computer.

In this configuration, neither card will upload images. Remove either and the uploading begins. It appears that they will alternate, when one completes, the other may begin.

With the unaltered CF adapter installed and uploading images I progressively moved the camera away from the router (line of sight) until the speed became unusable. The outer limit seemed to be about 15 feet, any more and things slowed to a crawl.

Perhaps both cards can work simultaneously if they upload to separate computers, haven't tried yet.
Just wanted to report back very preliminary findings.
