Go Pro Hero

Discussion related to cameras used with your Eye-Fi Card

I was also confused by the official page saying Not supported and the YouTube video showing it working.

Does the X2 card work?

Is some kind of firmware update required?

Is that an eyefi firmware update or a GoPro update?

Clarification would help before I order the card...

I guess the only answer was to shell out the $ and give it a try. I have done that and am now using the GoPro as a webcam using the Eye-Fi card to ftp the photos to my web site.

I would link to the web site that shows how it works as a webcam, but this forum software thinks that is too spammy for a new user..

I guess you will have to google to find my web site "gopro camera controller". Perhaps someone with more posts can add a direct link to the thread please.

The words you need are: cam-do com gopro webcam

In short, the 4GB X2 Eye-Fi card appears to work with the GoPro HD Hero despite the information to the contrary.

Is it possible to have the Eye-Fi card in my GoPro and this wireless HDD by a company called gate Sea (please rearrange) called the GoFlex Satelite in my backpack for near endless recording whilst skiing?

Go Pro users, our latest Eye-Fi X2 card firmware update makes all Eye-Fi X2 cards compatible with Go Pro cameras. This firmware version is 5.0001.

This firmware version is only available to new activations. If you would like this firmware for your card, deactivate your X2 card and then activate it again (you will lose your card settings by doing this). You will be prompted to update to 5.0001 when activating.

Instructions to deactivate: http://support.eye.fi/cards/how/remove-a-card/

Instructions to activate: http://support.eye.fi/cards/start/setup-eye-fi-card/

Hi

I´m considering buying the product for use mostly with GoPro HD and an Android phone. I have a few questions:

1) Is there a possibility to transfer just the last file? I would mainly like to use the card to check my composition and therefore only the last file is needed. After the composition is checked I plan to close the wi-fi on my phone. I assume this preservers battery life on the GoPro also?

2) What is the approximate time for this job: Put wifi "on" on phone, take pic with gopro, transfer pic, check composition?

3) This actually has less to do with eye-fi. Can I somehow geotag a video? So the timeline is synced with the video?

1.) Nope
2.) Depends on the media file size. If it is a picture, 30 seconds to 2 minutes? HD video... a minute to 60 minutes?
3.) Nope

Hi

I tried getting the firmware update by deactivating & activating, but it didn't work. How can I check my current firmware version?

You can look in the card log. Here are instructions to view your card log:

1. Insert the Eye-Fi card into the USB card reader and into your computer
2. Click on the Eye-Fi Helper icon in the Apple Menu Bar or in the Windows Task Bar
3. Select "Get Eye-Fi card Log..." from the menu. You may have to wait several seconds, but, in a moment, you will be asked where to save the Eye-Fi card log file
4. Save the Eye-Fi card.log file to your computer hard drive and open the card log

I went to re-activate my card after deactivation and now I am faced with the following error (upon caddy+card insertion):

"Failed to get the Eye-Fi card registration key"

So what do I do now? I can no longer use my Eye-Fi card.

NOTE: I have tried restarting my machine.

Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, can you provide a card log? Here are instructions:

1. Insert your Eye-Fi card into your camera
2. Take 5 pictures
3. Wait 5 minutes to give the photos a chance to upload
4. Remove the card from your camera *
5. Insert the Eye-Fi card into the USB card reader and into your computer
6. Click on the Eye-Fi Helper icon in the Apple Menu Bar or in the Windows Task Bar
7. Select "Get Eye-Fi card Log..." from the menu. You may have to wait several seconds, but, in a moment, you will be asked whe re to save the Eye-Fi card log file
8. Save the Eye-Fi card.log file to your computer hard drive and reply to this forum thread with your log file attached

Also, as an update, the GoPro Hero and GoPro Hero 2 are now compatible with all Eye-Fi X2 cards. If you have not already, upgrade your Eye-Fi X2 card firmware to 5.0001. Here are instructions to do so:

http://support.eye.fi/software/start/ho ... -firmware/

Here are the updated compatibility pages for the GoPro Hero and the GoPro Hero 2:

I can confirm that the file transferring is working fine with my GoPro Hero. (using a 4GB Connect X2)

Only the endless memory feature doesn't work at all. I've tried restarting the camera, plugging it out/in, ...
