Discussion related to cameras used with your Eye-Fi Card

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3

Postby cmwade77 » Sat Jun 11, 2011 9:37 pm

I see that this camera is incompatible on the list of cameras and I would like to know why? It is an amazing camera and I would love to get an eye-fi card to use with it. I have emailed suport and they basically said it will destroy the card over time, but I want to know why and if a firmware upgrade might fix this in the future?

The TS3 currently does not preview images correctly when reviewing them on the card. A fix for this is in the works, unfortunately I cannot provide a guarantee of its release or a timeframe. I am hoping for this change in the next firmare release.

If you still have the card and would like to use it with the TS3, I can provide you with an experimental firmware that works great with the TS3.

What is your ticket number?

I have returned that card, but will gladly purchase a new one if it will work with my camera. Funny thing is I never even tried to preview photos on the card...LOL

My ticket number is/was (it is closed now): 35476

As soon as you send the firmware, I will gladly repurchase a card. Thank you for your help on this, I have to say it is this type of customer service that will keep you in business for a long time if you continue to provide it.

Thanks for the compliments!

In order for me to get the experimental firmware to you, I need your new cards MAC address. So go ahead and pick up a card whenever you like, and then PM me your MAC address and I will flag your card for the update.

Must be his day off, he was really fast to respond to me. He will need the MAC Address of your Eye-Fi card. I wish there was a way I could send the Firmware to you, bit it appears it has to be flagged remotely.

I believe I've included the MAC address in my PM. So hopefully he'll get to it soon enough.. I'm wondering if I didn't PM correctly. Guess I'll find out soon enough :)
funny thing is I'd rather return the camera than the card :)

Thanks again..

I am interested in purchasing this camera and an eye-fi card. for those who have this combination, would you mind posting the results of your experimental firmware, like if it works well or if there are problems, what they are. I wish that Panasonic would get on board. I like their cameras but I also really want to get an eye-fi card.

yasuya,

A new firmware with the experimental fixes for the TS3 is going to be released very soon. In fact, if you buy a card today and activate it, you will be prompted to update to this new firmware. Essentially, the TS3 is now compatible. When the firmware update goes live to all users pretty soon here I will update this thread.

Nick,

That is an interesting behavior. Did you try formatting the card in the camera first before taking photos? PM me your card log as well if you could. Just in case, here are card log retrieval instructions:

Eye-Fi Card log recovery process:

1. Insert your Eye-Fi Card into your camera
2. Take 5 pictures
3. Wait 5 minutes to give the photos a chance to upload
4. Remove the card from your camera
5. Insert the Eye-Fi Card into the USB card reader and into your computer
6. Click on the Eye-Fi Helper icon in the Apple Menu Bar or in the Windows Task Bar
7. Select "Get Eye-Fi Card Log..." from the menu. You may have to wait several seconds, but, in a moment, you will be asked where to save the Eye-Fi Card log file
8. Save the Eye-Fi Card.log file to your computer hard drive and PM me with your log file attached

The DMC-TS3 / DMC-FT3 is now compatible. Please upgrade your Eye-Fi card firmware to 4.5157 (or higher if available) and the camera should function normally. If you are using an experimental firmware that I flagged for your card, it is now ok to upgrade your firmware and continue doing so in the future. Here is the compatibility page:

It took a while but thanks. I can now confirm the FT3 is working with the card. We'll see how uploading goes when I get near some WiFi :)

Big advantage here, battery life permitting, is to allow uploads from a "wet" camera without worrying about water ingress...

Does anyone know if the fix mentioned would apply to others in the DMC-TS*/FT* lineup? Specifically, I'm wondering whether there is support (or planned support) for the DMC-TS20/FT20. I would love to use the Eye-Fi card, so I'm hoping the answer is "yes'.

Thanks!
