Full Screen Preview!!!!#$@#$!!!!

Postby thejt » Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:23 pm

Seriously how is this not the first feature in Eye-Fi Center. Ive got to imagine 99% of people that buy this card just assume that this is an option and are probably most interested in that alone. Sure wireless transfer is great and all but give me a break... WHY? Because people want to see the image the just took NOW, on their large display.

Really people this is like 10 lines of code. The fact that this is not an option really discourages me from thinking Eye-Fi Center will ever amount to anything useful. ShutterSnitch and a Ipad is a far better solution, but I dont want to upload my photo's to my ipad just to get a instant full screen preview you dig?

If this feature is not added with the quickness I am returning my X2 Pro. Comon.. really; its like 10 LINES OF CODE!!!

BTW.. Do not link me to the crappy workaround page because that is NOT a solution. I dont want a freaking rolling slideshow, I want a single indefinite preview of the photo that was last shot. I should n0t have to install 3rd party apps and or python scripts or any other crap to get a simple, basic, necessary, implied, expected means of previewing my photos.

ITS WHAT I BOUGHT THE DAMN CARD FOR!

We've done many customer surveys of current feature satisfaction and future feature suggestions and you couldn't be more wrong about your wild assumption. That's not to say that preview-related features don't get suggested, but they're not even double-digit percentages in our surveys, so let's begin by establishing that you are an outlier in your belief that this is a "must have" or "implied" feature. That doesn't mean you're not entitled to your opinion - you of course are, but your argument does not gain any additional validity with baseless projections.

Because people want to see the image the just took NOW, on their large display.

Many Eye-Fi users upload their photos while they are nowhere near a screen or paying attention to a screen. Some Eye-Fi users upload photos and are interested in live rolling slideshows. Some Eye-Fi users are interested in static displays that update on each uploaded photos. Others want histograms to be overlaid on them. Yet others want them mapped onto spinning 3D cubes... And guess what, there are very reasonable ways of achieving most of this on both operating systems that we support without Eye-Fi taking on a very multi-faceted feature that's outside the core features of the product (as documented and advertised).

Really people this is like 10 lines of code.

Right.

If this feature is not added with the quickness I am returning my X2 Pro. Comon.. really; its like 10 LINES OF CODE!!!

If that's your decision, we can't do anything but respect it. I'll still offer that you could also follow this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1017

for more constructive approaches that folks have taken to similar needs, using operating system features like folder scripts which are designed exactly for this kind of inter-application synergy. That way not everyone has to reinvent the wheel (and then hear of disappointment when their wheel that was designed by engine designers have bad traction).

BTW.. Do not link me to the crappy workaround page because that is NOT a solution.

OK. Duly noted.

...not have to install 3rd party apps and or python scripts or any other crap to get a simple, basic, necessary, implied, expected means of previewing my photos.

Implied how?

As a wise person once suggested on this very forum, if you're going to buy the product for one and only one feature, to the point that you'll return the product simply based on the absence of that feature, please write an e-mail, send a Tweet, call toll free or fly a messenger pigeon to find out if the feature exists. A five-minute conversation can save a lot of mutual disappointment and aggravation.

I find that hard to believe that so few people are interested in this feature. Still I stand on the point that this should be implied. But, I guess I have high expectations which is why I seem to be constantly let down :(

Just to prove Berend's point, full-screen preview is something I could care less about. I got the Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer and my online Picasa gallery with no work on my part. I don't do live slideshows, and I don't need to see my pictures full-screen as they're being transferred. If others are looking at my pictures, I'm showing them after they've been transferred, or they're looking at them on the web.
My cameras: Nikon D90, Panasonic ZS7
My Eye-Fi: 8GB Pro X2

Ok I have to agree. Eye fi really needs to create a fullscreen preview. Your product is great and many of us pro's have actually adopted this tech and embraced it as a faster and more cost effective wireless system for our cameras. I personally have tried all of the suggest "slideshow" full screen preview options and there just not up to scratch. I would like to see a preview that comes up on screen at full screen res and just stays there until the next shot comes through (not cycle through a slide show). Also the program has to run in the background (as some of the suggested options don't!)and not mess with our work flow in lightroom or bridge (or whatever other editing software you are using).

I think this is a very important thing to bring to the table. I think there are many many photographers who would love to see full screen live preview. Lets us not be ignored!

I just bought a x2 card some days ago and I was totally surprised, that there is no fullscreen preview function included in the PC application like it is on the android app.
For me it was absolutely no question that this function will be available and there are many questions about this in this forum. Yes, there might be some workarounds available but slide shows are not what I'm looking for. Unfortunately the program that somebody made in the past is no longer available. Please take the five minutes to include that functionality to your program.

+1 fullscreen preview is the most important feature for me as we'll, that's why I cannot understand why the iPad app is still broken!!! Do you guys have just one developer, who is on vacation right now? I am seriously disappointed in eye-fi's service. I was so happy which the card in the first couple of month, no things are just going bad!!!
