need to view files on multiple computers - no internet

Postby explorerhv on Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:21 pm

I have tried various ways to share files between laptops in a dance studio for "instant viewing" - I have no trouble downloading files to a host laptop via an adhoc network and an eyefi pro card, but have not been successful viewing those files on other computers at the same time - when I add more than one laptop to the adhoc, the eye fi card stops transferring - when I set a network router and plug everything in via ethernet, the files quit being available for viewing when the eye fi card is transferring, and then can be accessed only after the card quits sending files, and only then when the files are all refreshed.

Has anyone successfully transferred files via an eyefi with no internet access and been able to view on multiple computers at the same time, and if so, PLEASE let me know how you did this, and what router / equipment you used.

I have had lots of advice, and tech support has tried to help out - I have tried to add a wireless setup with no internet access to the card with several routers, and no go so far

Advice okay, but I would really appreciate hearing if someone has actual done this successfully - I have about 3000 pics to shoot next month, and need to get this working, and hate the thought of going back to a tethered solution.

Have you tried setting up a home network and saving the files to an external network drive??

Seems plausible to save photos to a shared folder on a network so once they're saved to one computer they are visible to any connected to it. This can be done pretty easily on Windows or Mac.
