facebook login with Eye-Fi error message

Postby rolly003 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:16 pm

when i try to set up my Eye-fi to work with Facebook it tells me to check the box that says "In order to use Facebook with your Eye-Fi Card you must select the optional checkbox on the Facebook login page to save your login info."

i always get "
Error
You must select 'Save my login info' on the Facebook login page. If you do not see the login page, go to facebook.com in a new window and logout. "

what can i do?

I get the same message today, Mac or Windows. Works fine with my SmugMug account and my MobileMe account. I'm wondering if this has to do with facebook's recent upgrades? Any thoughts?

Facebook seems to have removed the checkbox on the login page during their recent facelift. We relied on the checkbox to make sure that we are able to get "infinite" sessions to upload into FB accounts (otherwise uploads would stop working after an hour or two of adding FB in the EFM). We are in touch with them and hope to have this resolved soon.

This will only affect people who are trying to add their FB account to their EF account for the first time...ie. people who have never checked the box before.

We believe we have found the fix and hope to release it next week sometime. It basically involves asking users an extra question about allowing Offline Access in order for your Eye-Fi Card to upload into your FB account even while you are not logged into FB.

Facebook is working again. You'll get an extra page on FB asking for Offline Access. You need to approve this in order to allow Eye-Fi uploads into your account while you are offline. Let me know if there are any other hiccups.

I just received the 4GB Anniversary Edition Card and have been trying to set this thing up for the last hour with no success when trying to use facebook. I have allowed access, and allowed offline access and I keep getting

"Unable to establish Offline Access. Please make sure that you select 'Okay' on the Offline Access grants page after you log into Facebook."

I have added and removed the card from Facebook 3 times with no success. I'm at the point where this purchase might need to go back to the store. Please help.

Is there any chance you are using IE 6 or 7? We've had a couple reports about Facebook's authorization pages not working in correctly in IE. Firefox and Safari seem to work fine. I will post more info here once we learn more.

I just downloaded Firefox and it's not working while using this either. I get the same error on the EyeFi Manager.

Hi, I have now had the same problem, that I cannot add Facebook neither using Firefox nor using IE7. I contacted EYE-FI support about this. They did not find a solution, just many sugesstions about using firefox and removing the eye-fi app from Facebook and readding it. It seems like, i managed to add the service coincidentally after something like 20 tries. There definitively IS something wrong, but the EYE-FI support did not admit it. So keep trying, eventually It'll work.

Another thing is that although your photos do get uploaded to Facebook, they are not visible. You have to go online and approve them. Thats more than annoying. Eye-Fı should change the system they use to upload to Facebook. But I've written about that already here : http://forums.eye.fi/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=337

It's so frustrating to be eagerly anticipating products to work as advertised and described only to be letdown and robbed of your time. And to add insult to injury, get no solution from the support staff.

Patiently waiting for a solution.

Hi, unfortunately FB appears to have changed the way they handle authentication. We've had to take it off the list until we can resolve the problem with them. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll post another update here once I know more...but I would expect it to be down for a day or two :(

Uploads for existing users will continue to work. This only affects new users who are trying to add Facebook.

I tried to get back on to the settings page and noticed that Facebook has been removed. I appreciate the prompt action that you're taking to fix the problem. Thank you for making the efforts. It's really appreciated especially after I just forked out $100 for a memory card.

@kim:
While you are at it add the possibility to directly share w/out first having to approve the photos.

Just thought I'd post an update on the Facebook login issue. FB has informed us that they are going release a fix for this on their end later tomorrow. Realistically, I wouldn't expect it to be fixed until early next week. I will keep everyone posted on the progress here.

Facebook was able to work through most their Offline Access authentication issues, so I've made Facebook available again to all users.

There is one remaining issue in IE6/7 which is that you will not be able to grant the Offline Access to Eye-Fi if you have ever granted it to Eye-Fi before (their page will just reload instead of redirecting back to us). If you run into this problem, go into your Facebook Authorized Application Settings page (http://www.facebook.com/editapps.php?v=allowed) => Eye-Fi => Edit Settings => Additional Permissions, uncheck the boxes, click 'Okay', and try adding Facebook in the Eye-Fi Manager again.

Please post back here if you run into any other problems.

chip273: We hear you and are looking into adding the possibility to directly share w/out first having to approve the photos in the next release.

I tried it and it works!! Thanks for fixing this. It would be nice if somehow you could designate what album it uploaded the photos over to rather than just the current album date. Since Eye-Fi is linked to my facebook with authorization, couldn't it be programmed to give us an option of where we want the photo to land?

We are working with Facebook to try and make the experience better - i.e. no need to login to Facebook again to make the album public.

Thanks for the advise, it saved me loads of time and money.
However this solution only works for a limited amount of time.
