Networks tab on Eye-fi center for the web

It would be great if the Eye-Fi center for the web had the Networks Tab, just like the Eye-Fi Center for desktop.

It would make it possible to set a new network if you happen to go to a friend's by chance and want to use his networok to upload... instead of writing down SSID and key, going back home, setting them on your PC, and then going back to your friend's and try if everything's OK...)

I wonder why such a feature is not on the web application.

Information about networks is stored on the card. The Eye-Fi Center web site shows you some settings that we store online, but it does not communicate with the card directly. Only the Eye-Fi Center program can do that, when the card is physically connected to the computer running our software. You could download the software from our web site to your friend's computer, add the network, and then uninstall the software at that point if you want.

I agree, it would be impressive if there were a way to send network information to the card without having to install Eye-Fi Center and plug the card in, but I don't think it's possible. We'd need to reach the card somehow, and we obviously can't do it wirelessly since the card doesn't yet know how to reach the wireless network...

That assumes that we would wait until there is no connection to edit things.

My 2 eye'fi cards download to a file server at home. It's basically headless. Or at least requires me to schlep down to the basement and physically connect the cards to the box. It would be easier/nicer if I could just make changes on the web and then next time the card calls in it gets updated

second would be traveling- happens to me all the time. I travel to a friend, or family, or even a hotel with free wifi. Many times I'm there for a week or 10 days. But there's no way to edit the card to take advantage. I would be great to edit the settings online then you just need to run down to the mcdonalds or panera or whatever to get onto the net and have the card suck down the new settings.

Just make it an advanced or hidden setting and put all sorts of disclaimers on it that the card still needs to connect to a known access point before it can add new ones.

There could even be a web version that requires you to write to the card (or a small simple exe to download to do it). IT's one thing to run a web app or small exe on a borrowed PC- it's altogether different to ask one's brother-in-low to spend 15-20 minutes installing the eye-fi card and the adobe bloatware to make one setting and then just remove it all (and you know adobe isn't going to uninstall cleanly from anyone's registry....).

the cards are meant for travel and even to send your pictures back home. yet there's no provision to change things while traveling. Seems kind of odd to me.

But i just noticed if you hit center.eye.fi with your browser and click the networks tab and 'add a hotspot account' you get logged into the underlying easy wifi account that the card uses over at their website. Besides the ability to add personal hotspot networks (which I have used)- there is an option for "add private network". I dont recall that being there before?

anyone got time to try it? gotta run now myself....
