Using Dropbox to Share Photos

Postby clamsrme » Sat Dec 26, 2009 10:14 pm

Just got my Eye-Fi Geo and setup the local eye-fi folder in my MyDropbox public folder. Now whenever I take a picture its transferred to my public dropbox folder. Very cool.

Yes, it's very cool.
And demonstrating it by taking a photo and showing it a few moments later in the iPhone Dropbox app has probably brought a new Eye-Fi customer

i would like Dropbox to be a supported upload site so that if you don't have a computer nearby, it can upload directly to eye.fi servers.

Would be great as a online service. Dropbox is gaining more and more momentum. Why is Eye-fi dropping the ball on this?

Is DropBox currently a service to which I can sent Eye-Fi photos automatically? If so, how? if not, why not, and how soon may one expect to be able to do so? :?

I am also using that dropbox and I agree it is very cool because it is very helpful, and I can easily transfer big files.

I willingly add my vote to allow Dropbox as an image upload site. I don't use it as much as I thought but this might change that.

The only drawback to using dropbox is that it's internet based...i.e. you pay for sending data over your cell network, unlike direct mode.

And while I'm here...let me ask a dumb question;

doesn't direct mode do exactly the same thing?

Can't Eye Fi upload to the eye fi servers now without dropbox? Mine does.

I'm not dissing...I'm just not clear on why this is better than direct mode or "relayed transfer"...

I may be wrong, but my take on this is that there are already several "authorized" photo sharing sites that allow Eye-Fi images to be uploaded. DropBox is not one of those as it is not set up primarily as a photo sharing site. I would like to see it added to the list of accepted sites so I can use it as one of the "Networks" to upload photos to.

Dropbox is a simple solution for saving files to the cloud. With it, you can make the same files accessible across multiple computers by simply installing Dropbox on every computer that you use regularly and dropping files there.

Hello,

Hope my first post will be useful !
Check out services like :
Wappwolf
IFTTT

(sorry, I can't give you the URLs, the forum seems not to allow them for new members)

Both of them will give you the possibility to send those Dropbox pictures to facebook, twitter, and many more...

If use both services (depending on what I want to do) and it works very well !
