Ipad iOS5 + Eye-Fi X2 errorcode: assetLibrarynoAccessMessage

Postby Conti » Mon Dec 26, 2011 9:06 pm

Hi Guys,

I got a new iPad2 with iOS5 on it for x-Mas. =)

Today I was trying to connect my Eye-Fi X2 card with my Canon 60D and my new iPad.
I did everything as described but therer where some strange issuse:

1. The first time connecting was allmost perfekt. I wanted to try to connect cam and Ipad over the direct mode in the car. So I configurated the card at my Notebook before I went, put it in my cam and configurated the iPad with the app.
The cam tried to submit some Videos i took before and I saw a message on the iPad that those vids couldn't be shown because of the format. This is okay, I didn't expected that the iPad could do so. ;) In the Eye-Fi App I saw some pics i allready took with my ipad cam.
I stoped the transmitting simply by turning off the Camera.

2. When I got back home I tried to connect again but I couldn't see the Wifi the card creates. Later I discoverd, that it doesn't show in the list, when you are connected to an active Wifi. I turned my Wifi off and connected the ipad to the cards Wifi, becouse I wanted to test the dircet mode.
3. When I then opened the Wifi-App, there was the following Error-Code: assetLibrarynoAccessMessageiOS5 and it said that I have no access to the objectlibrary. Now I couldn't see any picture in the app, but when i later after updating Eye-Fi Center on my Notebook and updating firmware of my eye-fi card tried to submit some pics from my cam to the ipad, at the bottom of the app it shows me the transmiting bar, but the picture still doesn't appear.
4. I than had a look at my picture on my ipad in the usual picture-App and there I could see my transmitted pictures.

Until now, nothing changed. After posting this I will try if something changes if I am connecting the devices over the lokal Wifi.
If something happens I will let you know.

I have no clue what that Error-Code means and if I have done something wrong.
If somebody have seen this message before please help me!

Thanks guys!

Conti :-)

hello Conti,

It sounds like the issue is that the Eye-Fi app needs your permission to access the Assets Library where your photos are saved.

Please open your iPad's settings and look for Location Services. Make sure the Eye-Fi app is turned "On". Now return to the Eye-Fi app and see if your photos are visible. If not, it may be necessary to exit and restart the Eye-Fi app.

What locale (language) is your iPad running in? It looks like we missed a translation - that message should have been presented as the translated version of:

"You do not have access to the Assets Library
Please go to Settings -> Location Services and switch ON for Eye-Fi."
It is a counter-intuitive aspect of iOS that any application that needs access to the camera roll (i.e. assets library) needs to have location services enabled for it.

the problem exists in the german translation and is really confusing.

The explanation that location acess is necessary to access the foto library should be added too (at least to the FAQ?)

By the way - the app as an orientation problem. If you go to "connect cards" and select your card holding the iPad on the side and than press the upper left button to go back the display is rotated and can not be rotated back unless you are back on the main screen.

Please launch the "Settings" app on you iOS device, go into the "Location Services" panel and turn the access to "ON" for the Eye-Fi app. iOS requires an app to have location services privileges just for visualizing and depositing photos into the camera roll. The localization error will be fixed in the next release of the app.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

IOS6 with IPAD2: I have switched all location services to "ON", but still the error-messgae appears (assetLibrarynoAccessMessageiOS5).
What can I do?

hi artono,

We've had a few other reports of Location Services issues in iOS 6, and we've notified our developers. Please email us at support@eye.fi with the details so we can look into it further for you.

Thanks!

For iOS 6 users who receive a warning about Location Services:

Please open your iOS settings, choose Privacy and then Photos. Make sure Eye-Fi is switched On. Now please check the Eye-Fi app again - can you see your photo and video thumbnails on the Media screen? If not, please contact us directly and let us know the details so we can look into it further. Thanks!
