Unable to connect to wifi - firmware completed

Postby emarinos » Thu Feb 09, 2012 4:13 am

Hi

I went to great lengths to purchase an eye-fi pro and today I finally attempted the install. The install looked like it was going to go very smoothly BUT after I installed and upgraded the firmware from the automatic prompts, I am unable to connect it to my network. I have tried hours of different things and have come to the conclusion that my new purchase may just be a dud....Was it the firmware ? is it my network ?? This is my last ditched effort of some help...please can someone shed some light after reading the log file, what may be the issue.

From this log it looks like you are using WEP security, correct?

Can you please let me know what the make and model of your router is, how many characters your password is, and is it WEP Open or WEP shared?

Thank you for the quick response ! I assumed by your response that WEP may be an issue, so I changed the security settings to WPA and all is good. Joined first go ! I am fortunate enough to be able to swap the security settings without too much disruption + the reason I had WEP was for a an old device which only supported WEP and I have now retired that.

BUT, I am still providing you with the stats you asked for just in case it helps someone else one day

Router: Netgear CG814WG
WEP Shared and 26 character password.

Once again thank you for the quick response and your help....time to start using and enjoying the eye-fi

Yes, WEP shared was the issue. WEP Open is supported but WEP Shared (and Apple's version of WEP for their routers) do not work with Eye-Fi cards.
