DigitalOxygen.ca wrote:So, received my own Eye-Fi card today. SD to CF adapters is still on it's way.
Thankfully it's on firmware 4.5166 and I was able to cancel what appeared to be an attempted forced upgrade by quitting the app. I did notice however that it states the latest firmware as 5.0006. Anyone tried this firmware with the adapters? I don't see any reference to this version on the site either: http://support.eye.fi/cards/specs/firmw ... ase-notes/
I will not be updating my own until I can be certain it will work based on lots of positive feedback.

Ran a whole event last night using it and was flawless.
I use it in the DeLock CF card adapter.
I connected to it using my 3 mifi and was stood about 10 feet away from the iPad and 20feet from Mifi as it was sending. Banging out about 4 photos then stopping for a bit whilst my colleague caught up with it running in the background.

This is exactly the feedback I was hoping to get. This helps prove it's not a completely closed door for 5.0001+. Definitely not worth the risk of upgrade but good to know that if someone gets an Eye-Fi with 5.0001 already loaded there is a chance it will work if the other variables are right. If we can receive more feedback like this maybe we can better determine the winning combination to help people out of a pinch with 5.0001.
Can I ask which Canon camera you're using (assuming 5D MKII) and which firmware it's running? Also, any chance you can see/report the chipset on your DeLock adapter?
ziv wrote:By the way -- the chipset is the same. There are 2 types of adapters out there -- UDMA and non-UDMA. EVERY adapter that you're seeing, under all these brands, is made by the same company (C-Ming)

I'll contact C-Ming, to find out if they're running different firmwares.
ziv wrote:But reading the forum is interesting, since some are having luck with it. Who knows why. It must be a difference in the Canon firmware or the CF adapter. Our cards are certainly consistent

are you sure that you're running 5.0001? The way to know, with a 100% certainty, is to get a firmware log from the card. Just put the card into the reader (you don't need to start Center), and on Windows, or on the Mac, via the Helper, get the card log. Open the log, with any text viewer, and go all the way to the bottom. Then start going up. Look at time 00.00 and let us know what firmware the card is saying that it's running.
If you're running 5.0001 indeed and you're having luck with the UDMA CF adapter + the 5DmkII -- that's interesting to know.
Thx.

Interesting. Could you please PM me with your firmware log, or just cut and paste the first few lines for us, that show the firmware version?
Maybe between 5.0001 and 5.0006, we made a "positive" change toward the UDMA adapter. I'll check with Engineering.

I've been studiing this topic for some hours nowso far i have one question left to answer - have the last 2 years of testing shown which is the best combination of CF-Adapter and Eye-fi card? can i use the connect x2 also for my MK II ? i've got one left from the 550D
thanks for response!
Schalli0391 wrote:thanks so far- so there is not a significant difference between the pro x2 8gb version and the connect x2 ? both should/could work with the correct components ? assuming the firmwire UDMA issues?

The latest.
