Help troubleshooting your Eye-Fi Card

This card can't be used.

Postby czevski » Sat Mar 17, 2012 10:32 am

I updated my 8gb mobile x2 card yesterday. Today, while using it, it sometimes came up with the message above and other times took pictures just fine. All pictures downloaded with no problems. I have recently erased many photos since I have been using this card for a while. I do have it set up to automatically erase photos when I reach capacity.

Which camera are you using?

Please post your card log here (or email it to us at support@eye.fi) so we can make sure you have the latest firmware. For help retrieving the card log: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5776

It's possible that we have a newer firmware revision which might help, so please send us the card log or post your card's MAC address here (or in a private message). To find the MAC address: http://support.eye.fi/cards/how/how-do- ... c-address/

Firmware version 5.0008 was released publicly yesterday afternoon. I would suggest manually backing up any photos on your Eye-Fi card, formatting the card in your camera, then updating the Eye-Fi card's firmware:
http://support.eye.fi/software/start/ho ... -firmware/

From your log, it appears that everything is working normally. Let us know if you're still having issues after formatting and updating.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5200 and get the same message (Connect x2 4G). Updated eye-fi firmware but no change. Any hints? Anyone succeeded using a 5200?

hi staylor,

The Coolpix 5200 appears to be an older camera that was introduced before high-capacity SDHC cards like the Eye-Fi Connect X2, so they are probably not compatible. The camera manual only mentions 256MB and 512MB cards, so I can't even be sure the camera will work with our older 2GB cards, but it might be possible.

It looks like you'll need a newer camera if you want to use your Connect X2 card. Modern Nikons (SDHC compatible) usually work fine. http://www.eye.fi/how-it-works/camera-compatibility

Today, after two days of use with a brand new Nikon P510 and 138 frames, I turned on the camera again and was greeted by "THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED".

The card came in the mail Saturday, the camera came last Thursday. The card is a Pro X2 8GB and the Nikon P510 even directly supports it.

As a side note, this thing was close to horrid to setup, not very intuitive at all, and confusing.

hello tdiaz,
That's odd, we're certainly sorry to hear that you received this error in your P510. It looks like your card firmware is up to date, and there is no firmware update available for the P510. Since you also emailed us, we'll follow up with you that way.
