iPhone/iPad cannot connect to Pro X2 Card in direct mode

Postby westfeld on Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:58 pm

Hello Everybody,

I am having problems connecting to my Eye-Fi Pro X2 card in direct mode. The network starts and is visible. I enter the password on my iPad or iPhone, but not simultaneously on both and I got a Joining network failed error message.

I have no clue what goes wrong, so I attached my log file.

hi westfeld,

Sorry to hear that the card is not connecting properly.

We have flagged your card for a firmware update. Please re-open Eye-Fi Center, and you should see a yellow alert icon indicating that an update is pending. Connect the card and click the message to update it.

Hello jsun,

unfortunately the new firmware did not help. I already had the card replaced once and with the old card on a 4.xxxx firmware the direct mode worked. I am now using the replaced refurbished card. Uploading works for me if I am in a know WLAN. Posting online does not work using selective share, however the accounts are properly set up because I can use them to post from the iPhone app.

What bothers me most is the non functional direct mode. I have attached the new log file. I am using iOS 5.1

Thanks for your help

Hello Jsun,

I have made some further testing. When the card is in the reader and the direct mode is activated through the eye-fi center, I can connect to the card with my computer and also with my iPad. However if I swap the card into my Canon Powershot G11, I cannot connect anymore.

I attached the log file: the long first session is in the card reader, the second unsuccessful is in the camera. Note that the MAC address of the connecting device is the same in both cases.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the update, that's unusual. I've sent you an email from our support system so we can gather some more info and escalate the case if need be.

Thanks!

I am having this same issue with both an iPad and iPhone. When I select the Eye-Fi network, I get the spinning icon and nothing else. Camera is a Fuji X100.

hi Newzpix,

That is normal and means the devices are connected. The Eye-Fi card does not provide an internet connection, so iOS 5 displays the spinning wheel and not a check mark. Please give it another try: shoot a new JPEG photo onto the card, connect your iOS device to the "Eye-Fi Card" network, and once you see the spinning wheel, switch to the Eye-Fi app and see if your media files are transferring.
