Direct Mode Geotagging

Postby Ctrl-Z on Fri Apr 20, 2012 4:43 am

I an wondering it is possible to have the EYE-Fi card get GPS data from the iOS device (if equipped) when operating in direct mode. Geotagging in now available Via WPS so if you are out in areas where there is no coverage you have no Geotagging. Not sure of the details of the programming involved so I ask for tolerance, this could be handled 2 different ways depending on the complexity. 1. Eye-fi card get the GPS data if available from the iOS device and tags the pic in camera 2. the Eye-fi client on the iOS device geotags the pic when transferred.

Just curious

I am curious of the same thing. I am thinking that this probably does not work, but it would be great if it did and would also be a great added feature to the eye-fi card.

I talked with Eye-Fi and they said that they have looked into this but Apple does not support allowing access to the gps info this type of application.

i don't really buy that. olympus makes it possible with their latest camera's with build-in wifi, why won't an eye-fi card have the same functionality

i want this! +1, thumbs up
