Card does not allow me to turn off "Relayed Transfer"

Postby Fardilha » Mon Mar 12, 2012 12:41 pm

Hi there.

I'm trying to use my new eye-fi card with my iPad but I'm hitting some road blocks.

Originally I was thinking in using direct mode to do the transfers but I realized that for some reason the geotagging wasn't happening.

So I went the router option but without using the relayed transfer option.

The problem is that even though I disable that option using Eye-Fi Center somehow it remains enabled.
Not only it shows as enabled when I check using the iPad but also the card always transfer thru the external servers... and that is extremely slow and basically destroys the usefulness of the card.

Is there any way to fully disable the relayed transfer in order to see the pictures on my iPad in a decent time?
Or at least to make my geotagging investment work under direct transfer?

(I tried to link some screenshots but the board doesn't allow me to)

Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem, I'm trying to use "ShutterSnitch" on the Ipad which directs me to turn off "Relayed Transfer" on the card, It won't.

Make sure that options like uploading to an online site and Eye-Fi View are disabled. These both require Relayed Transfer to be enabled, as the pictures need to be uploaded to Eye-Fi's servers.

Also, if you have the Hotspot option enabled under Networks, this also requires Relayed Transfer be enabled, as it is assumed that your computer won't also be connected to the hotspot (and even if it is, there's a chance that the hotspot provider has likely disabled the ability for devices on the network to communicate with each other).

In addition to MikeV's tips: I would only recommend relying on the Eye-Fi Center desktop program to see if Relayed Transfers are really enabled. In my experience, the web site (center.eye.fi or "Additional Settings" from iOS/Android) always says Relayed Transfers are on, even if both the Eye-Fi Center program and the card have Relayed turned off.
