Feature Request - Pick the folder pictures transfer to

Postby semjase01 » Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:27 am

I recently switched from an evo 3d to a galaxy 2 on sprint, and now my pictures are being transferred to the phones memory, rather than the external sd card. The evo 3d worked fine, for some reason it was able to automatically detect and default to the external sd card. Anyway, I think it would be much preferred to be able to manually direct the images to any folder on the device. However, if the current set up was revised to detect and direct images to my external SD card in my galaxy 2, I would be very happy.

most new devices are doing this.
and most android camera apps in the market allow you to select the external SD card.

It is to my understanding that Eye-Fi is waiting for android to be fixed so that it magically knows what location without them having to fix the Eye-Fi app. Sounds to me like we are out of luck.

Actually, we were waiting for a standard API to use for the switch. It makes it easier to use, etc. Unfortunately, they didn't really address it. The feature will be added at some point, I can't comment when it will get released.

Cheers,

The EyeFi app is so primitive at this point. There are so many things you guys need to address. This product is not so cheap, I hope the app would be better. It has the potential to be AWESOME that's why I bought it... I didn't know the app was not that capable.

As a tip, you guys can look at the app QuickPic. That's the awesomest photo app for Android and it's free. Trust me... it's the best one. If you could somehow incorporate what QuickPic can do to the EyeFi app... my gawd... the awesomeness would just be indescribable!!!

I'm not sure why we would want to replicate quickpic, it is a good program, use it.

Regarding sdcard selection, we'll have something soon. Sorry for the wait.

Surely this would make life so much easier. There is an option in settings to 'select destination folder' but it's greyed out?

I would love it to save new photo's to DCIM/100MEDIA because then it would sync into DropBox and all would be easy.

As has been said, the potential here is awesome, it just really needs to be made more user friendly. I've spent hours tonight and I still don't really understand it properly. It's set to go to the phone and Picasa. Using my home network, each photo makes it's way to Picasa, but no sign of anything appearing on the phone :(

The option to set destination allows you to choose which flash memory to store files to. For instance, some phones with large internal flash point the developer interface to use that as the external storage area. If you have an additional memory card, previously you couldn't change it. This new option allows you to switch it to a different memory card. However, it doesn't allow you to choose a folder and will store all files in the Eye-Fi directory created for that card.

If the option is grayed out then there isn't a second memory card available for selection that the app can detect.

I just bought an Eye-Fi WIFI SD-card, and this was one big disappointment, that the app stores the files in a hard programmed path. Why not just add a advanced option for advanced users defining the path by them self?
