Setup and transferring photos to Google+

Postby greenly » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:57 pm

I just bought the 8GB Pro X2. Can I use a desktop computer without wireless to setup the EyeFi card? The desktop is hardwired to a wired/wireless router. Can I have the EyeFi software on more than one computer? (Or does it load software when I insert the USB card reader or just set up registration?) I also have two wireless laptops that I may use at various times, but I prefer to work on the desktop whenever possible.

I ultimately want to use the EyeFi card to upload from my Canon camera to my Android phone running ICS. I am hoping that when the camera pictures are added to the phone's gallery, they will also be automagically uploaded to my Google+ account. Has anyone tried this? Does EyeFi put the photos in the Android "gallery" or do EyeFi photos land in a different folder?

in answer to your first question yup all any computer needs is access to the internet and a usb socket for the supplied card reader.

you can have the software loaded on as many computers as you like however your eyefi card can only have one "local" destination but if you upload to your android device it can have a "local" destination also so it is possible to have it upload its photos automaticaly to you computer / laptop when it recieves them from your eyefi card (and if you like photos you have taken with the phones camera also)

not certain google+ is supported see here http://support.eye.fi/features/share/su ... ing-sites/

they have been making changes to the android software regarding were the photo's are stored they used to go to the internal memory but now they have improved things and you do get to choose but i dont use android anymore so im not certain of the details

As ahinchcliffe mentioned, Google+ is not supported directly as an online destination, but check this thread about uploading to Google+ via Picasaweb. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4799

We save files to our own "Eye-Fi" folder on your device, and that's where you'll find them in the Gallery. My guess is that they would not be automatically uploaded to Google+ using the Instant Upload feature, but I don't know exactly where Google looks for those incoming photos.

Thanks ahinchcliffe. My phone has one large internal card and no external card so that simplies things. I know that the photos on my Android phone are stored in the Gallery. There are multiple albums/folders within the gallery. All photos that come directly from the camera phone are placed in the "Camera" album and auto loaded to G+.

Thanks jsun. Looks like I'll have to resort to Picasa or manually upload the photos to G+. That almost defeats the purpose of the card. I'll play with it and see what works best.

OK. App added to phone. Everything is up to date. I thought I did everything correctly, but the photos from my phone transferred to the Eye-Fi card -- just the opposite of what I want. I've probably got some setting wrong somewhere, but frankly, I don't know where to begin looking. Can you help more please?

Also, is there any way to safely remove the photos from the Eye-Fi card without losing them on the phone?

Finally, if I understand things correctly, I can only upload photos to the phone -- not the phone AND the computer at the same time. But I can upload them to the computer later by changing the settings. Exactly which settings? Does that have to be done from the phone or must it be done from the computer?

I found this thread very helpful explaining some of the details, but I'm still befuddled: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6541

Thanks!
