CF to SD adapter

Help troubleshooting your Eye-Fi Card

Re: CF to SD adapter

This adapter worked for me in my Canon 5D2, http://www.dealextreme.com/p/sdhc-sd-mmc-to-cf-type-ii-card-adapter-upto-32gb-22338, I've yet to remove any surrounding metal as is it's giving me a 5M range which I'm happy with. I did have to extend out my camera LCD timeout as the card was going into power save mode whenever the LCD on my camera went into power save mode.

so far very happy with the result, however yet to do a full shoot with it.

Canon 7D and 8GB Pro X2 success!!!

Postby foo-fi » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:53 am

I got the following adapter as I needed it anyway, and decided to try it with my 7D and 8GB Pro X2:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/370479897687

BINGO!!! It works fine with a range well within the size of a large studio, 10m line-of-sight no problem. However as soon as a stud wall gets inbetween the performance drops, I can see the transfers slow down and get a bit jerky. And when a floor gets in the way, well that's the signal apparently gone (although my Macbook can connect).

The card has metal covers so no doubt that's part of the problem, once I get to peel those off I'll report back :D !!!

I tried using my connect x2 with photofast cr7000 cf adaptor with no luck. Tested on canon 5D, 5D mk2 and 7D all give CF error. Can anyone tell me it's the problem of the cf adaptor, eye fi card model (I saw most people are using pro version on cf adaptor) or firmware version?

Everyone seems to be ignoring people here who are asking about a SD to CF Type 1 adapter for use with many Nikon pro SLR's. Is there just no such thing and that's why these people's posts are being ignored?

We've never seen a fully enclosed CF Type 1 adapter. The outer thickness of the SD slot mechanism is just a hair too much to fit into a Type 1 enclosure, hence everything you see is Type 2.

Yet another reason why EyeFi needs to make a CF version of their product.

Is there a adaptor that converts a CF card, so that it can fit into a SD slot? Thank you.

I just got my eye-fi x2 card yesterday, was excited. I also got my CF to SD adapter, followed all the instructions everywhere, and when I try to shoot from my canon 5d mk1 to my ipad2 I cannot. I did remove the plate on my cf adapter, i enabled direct mode, i looked for the eye-fi card network via the ipad2 and it couldn't connect to it.

I was able to shoot a few photos across once I removed the card and put it on my computer and then it found the network. I have a grip on my 5d (not sure if that matters) but need help trying to figure out why my ipad will not find the eye-fi's card. Not sure if its a tablet or a CF adapter or eye-fi problem.

Any ideas?

I'll post any other information if there any changes happens

NOTE: I've bought mine on NIOBO. Is a Portuguese online store, for professional photography. (noibo.pt )

We're wasting our time here. They will never make a CF version of the card, and no adaptor will ever work properly. Just give up on these people, since they have anyway, and look for another solution.

Yes, I has a SD card reader for the SD card on my camera. When I want to get pictures off the camera, I won't sync the camera with computer directly. I'll take out the Sd card and put it into a card reader to connect with computer.

Well that is just pointless to have an Eye-Fi card then, no? The whole point of these cards is to be able to shoot photos and have them transfer to your computer wirelessly. Doing what you're saying here can be done with any ordinary SD card.

Which Eye-Fi card are you using with the DELOCK?

Okay, just an FYI for folks. I have 2 Eye-Fi cards, an Eye-Fi Geo 2GB, and an Eye-Fi Connect X2 4GB. I have an SD to CF adapter from Delkin Devices. I have 2 cameras, an Olympus E-510 and a Canon 40D. The Geo 2GB card works with the Delkin adapter in BOTH of the cameras. The Connect X2 4GB will work with the Delkin in the Olympus, but NOT in the Canon.

None work in my Nikon D700. These SD to CF adapters don't even fit as they're made for the wrong type of CF card slot. There's a Type I and a Type II. I have yet to find one that is for a Type I CF card. All of them are for Type II. And even then, I did the trick where you shave down the Type II adapter so it will fit, ake off the metal housing, etc ect - and even then it has maybe a 3 foot range from my router.

It just boggles the mind why these guys haven't come out with a CF version yet.

Hello Bill
I do not know what type of cameras are you using how ever the CF to SD adaptor fits vary well on all my SLS cameras Nikon D200 Canon 10d as well as on Canon G2
not all camera firmware recognises the adaptor's protocol for instance Canon 10D dose fit 100% makes photos Canon G2 also 100% no problem but Nikon D200 the adaptor fits 100% it will come up with error massage sadly ACH memory fault
if it is worth to anyone in the group I do use a SC HC/SD Extreeme CF adaptor came from the USA colour red I know there is one similar and known to work 100% is green colour i also ordered the unit not here yet
I will test and report back to the group
Sadly all my cameras CF type and no other way then try to find the correct adaptor I am using the Eye-Fi Pro x3 8 GB +WiFI
Thank you for reading

Sorry Bill I did over look I realise now how ever the adapter's fit ok 3 of my cameras D200. Eos 10D and G2 little tight but no issue
My main problem is Bill if anyone can tell me the reason if i format the EYF-Fi X2 Pro in the camera Canon EOS 10D it only formats to 3,8 mb not 8Gig so I did a test and did the same with a 4 GB SDHC card again only sees 3.8 Meg
If i format in my iMac it is no problem can anyone tell me why this is
Another experiment i did use the CF SD adapter plugged it in to a Card reeder (this tested the adapter) and in the iMac no issue all normal
I can take photos but after 2-3 photos the card is full then it locks up
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't suggest any user in USA directly buy from us now, because the shipping fee from Taiwan to USA is quite expensive.
Shopdigi (Digigear) should start selling 3rd Gen adapter on AMAZON, B&H, and their own site arround the end of August.

Sorry Bill, for now we still cannot support using Eye-Fi SD on Type I CF socket.
But please be patient, we're working on a solution to fix this situation.

I have a D200 and wanting to connect this one to my iPAD. Just bought a SanDisk 8Gb Eye-Fi card. And a Delock adapter. This adapter only gives me "CHA" errors when placed in the Nikon.
Checked shopdigi, but find costs for sending (almost $50) for a $13 buck item unacceptable :(
Hope folks here can point me to a CF adapter that does work for them when using a D200 with Eye-Fi.
BTW I am in the Netherlands, Europe.

Can you give the name or, preferably the model number of your adapter. It's not clear from the links you give.

Thanks
