Geo related discussion regarding the Geotagging Service

New feature/product request

Postby mpolda on Wed Jan 07, 2009 3:40 pm

I don't live in an urban area and expect the Eye-Fi Explore wouldn't work well for me. iPhoto '09 makes me very interested in geotagging, however. The ideal solution would be an SD card with built-in GPS. I suspect we're a few years away from that. In the meantime I'd like to see an external GPS device capable of communicating with a card such as the aforementioned for in-camera geotagging. I'm picturing a small, clip-on receiver which pairs with the Eye-Fi Explore to provide GPS data. Another possibility would be connecting via wi-fi or bluetooth to an iPhone app for real-time GPS data. Are you working on anything along those lines?

I also a hopeing for a CF or SD card with thos capebilities.

GPS and WIFI in 1 card.... this way you can use all of your old camera's and still add GPS data

Think of all the consumers but also PRO's that can be helped!

Pro photographers need GPS for the big stock agency's already....

Eye-Fi..... please make this work!

I have been considering the Poismotion g-Fi router. It's battery powered and provides a GPS fix via wi fi.

Anyone know if it works with the eye-fi explore?

This sounds like what I want, but it's expensive to be wrong!

but what would be the backhaul network.. my understanding is that the Eye-fi card only gets the geo information when it trys to upload. this looks like a Wifi router.. but if you are carrying it around with you it still needs some other network to upload the data such as a cellular network..

something like this would work if it collected geo
