Unable to Complete registration

Postby jcole66 on Sat Apr 11, 2009 11:41 am

I just got the Eye-fi Explore mainly for the Geo-tagging feature. But sadly I am unable to enable that since I cannot get thru the registration process to connect to my home wireless network. I have at least 6 devices wirelessly connected to my router without issue but cannot get the Explore to connect.
Depending on what browser I use I usually get this message:

Unable to connect to selected network

If your Wireless Router filters devices by MAC address, please add your card's MAC address (00:18:56:30:22:c6) to list of authorized devices. Otherwise, please move closer to the preferred wireless router and retry.

Well I havent been using MAC filtering but decided to enable it to see if the card would connect. It's all setup properly and it wont connect. I even disabled security temporarily just to attempt to get the Explore to connect. No go.

It's pretty frustrating to get a new device and not be able to turn on the features that you want!
Anyone have any suggestions?

I hope it's clear that the geo-tagging works in conjunction with the wireless transfers and not independent of it. Adding the network profile to the card is required not as a registration step, but for the photos to be transferred out of the card and get geo-tagged. The photos will not have geo tags in them if you read them directly off of the card.

If your Wireless Router filters devices by MAC address, please add your card's MAC address (00:18:56:30:22:c6) to list of authorized devices. Otherwise, please move closer to the preferred wireless router and retry.

Can you please post some details on the brand and model of the wireless router you're using? It is very unusual for there to be a connectivity problem even with the security disabled entirely. Also, if you can retrieve the firmware log from the card by clicking on the Eye-Fi Manager icon in the system tray on Windows or Finder menu bar on OS X and selecting "Get Eye-Fi Card log..." (with the card plugged into the card reader), and posting it here or forwarding it to support@eye.fi to open a case, we can all try to help you.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Actually I didnt realize that the geo-tagging works that way. My intention is to have all my photos end up in iPhoto.

My router is a Dlink WBR-2310. I had been using WEP encryption but after reading some info on the support site tried switching it over to WPA but that still doesnt seem to change anything or allow the card to connect to my home network.

I will forward my log since I'm getting an error when attempting to post it to this message.

Thanks again.

my issue is the same.
i'm unable to get thru to the eyefi server.

i sent log file to tech support, but have no resolution yet or ideas from them.

i've disabled my wireless security. i'm able to have other devices on the network,
looking at the eyefi log file, i can see that the card is pulling IP address, from the same router, i can also ping the eyefi IP address as indicated on the log.

but it's still not connecting.

any suggestions from anyone?

thanks

ENGILES,

Could you share your wireless network settings (security type, broadcast vs hidden SSID, MAC filtering, etc.), as well has which broadband service ISP you're using?

Thanks,

I've not been able to complete registration, despite some help from the telephone support. I'm running a MAC under OSX10.7; and a Motorola SBG900 cable modem, connected to Comcast. My chip can log in to my LAN and gets an IP, but fails to connect to the server at EYE-Fi. I've opened port trigger 59278 per telephone suggestion. I have six other devices all working thru the Motorola modem, and have not problem getting to the 'net. I'm not using wireless security or any MAC firewall ...

Any suggestions??

I'm having a similar issue. I'm trying to connect to the wireless network I run from my Macbook (OSX 10.5.8). I get the same message as the others when trying to add my network to the card.
