TP-Link 108M Wireless Router

Postby WTW on Sat Dec 06, 2008 6:26 pm

I just tested the TP-Link 108M Wireless Router Model No: TL-WR641G/TL-WRG642G and it works great!

This router was $35.00 (Canadian) and the range is fantastic. I was able to upload using an Eye-Fi Shared Card from over 300 feet away, however, this figure is only an estimated distance.

I was outside in a parking lot and the laptop and router were on the 3rd floor of a professional office building with large glass windows.

I had the router configured to use 54 Mbps instead of 108 Mbps, which the router is rated for. I did not have a wireless Ethernet card that will support 108 Mbps.

My next test is to use this router with either a TP-Link Access Point or a Meraki Open-Mesh Gateway to extend the range.

what is your ultimate range goal and what is your application for it?

300 feet is a great distance already. How I wish to have a personal router that is able to have a signal by that range.

Sorry if this is a dumb question..

Does this simply boost the wifi signal to allow greater range to the wifi router or does this create a wifi hotspot via a cellular modem with a data plan?
