Reimport photos to iPhoto

Postby rondhi » Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:46 pm

So I just got back from a trip from New York. I had been using my Eye-Fi to upload photos while I was gone. Eye-Fi Center had grabbed these and they're in Eye-Fi Center, but when I started up iPhoto to import them into there, it had about 1000 photos, so I just went to sleep, when I woke up, there was some sort of error. I was stupid and didn't take a screenshot of the error, and now all the photos are in Eye-Fi Center, but not iPhoto. Is there any way to initiate an import of all those photos from Eye-Fi Center into iPhoto? I have no idea where the photos are stored, as they never made it into iPhoto.

Some of the photos I've chosen have been uploaded to PicasaWeb. Some of the photos say they've been uploaded to iPhoto, but they're clearly not there.

I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3, iPhoto '09 8.1.2, and Eye-Fi Center 3.1.9.

Hey there rondhi,

When you double click on one of the photos that are in Eye-Fi Center but not in iPhoto, do you get a larger view of the photo? If you click on the little 'i' icon in the bottom right hand corner of this larger view, you should be presented with an alternative view of the photo which should give you details of where the photo has been delivered. Do you see an 'Open in iPhoto' or 'Open in Photo Application' link in this alternative view? If this link is present, what happens when you click on it?

Yes

A lot of the photos from the beginning say "Uploaded to iPhoto", but aren't actually in iPhoto. As I look later into the photos, they don't have "Uploaded to iPhoto".

When I click this, it opens to iPhoto. I have also tested this with a photo that is indeed in iPhoto. All this does is open to iPhoto, and not the photo itself.

rondhi,

Can you open up your Terminal application and copy and paste the following command into the prompt:

ls -lR ~/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/Auto\ Import

Once that command runs, can you post the response back to the forums.

Also, can you PM your Eye-Fi Helper log file to me please. A file called EyeFi.log should be available at /Users/rondhi/Library/Eye-Fi.

Thanks

Keep in mind, I've taken photos and imported stuff since then. Hope that didn't prevent me from recovering those photos!

Code: Select all
rondhi$ ls -lR ~/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/Auto\ Import
total 81200

Have you tried simply quitting and restarting iPhoto? It looks like Eye-Fi has delivered the photos to iPhoto's auto-import folder, which it is supposed to process every time it is made the active application or restarted. If that doesn't work, please try restarting your computer.

Have a good weekend,

I've already quit and restarted. Didn't work. The photos I need are older than the ones in the Auto Import folder. I hope they weren't deleted! :( If so, all I have are the thumbnails in Eye-Fi Center.

I am having the same problem. Is there a way to reimport photos to iPhoto?
