Eye-Fi Perfect/Compatible with PDA?

Postby rinjos89 on Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:23 pm

Hello!

I am looking for some information regarding the Eye-Fi card's use to provide my PDA with wifi access for web browsing and the like... Is this possible? It seems that all of these products are being marketed for use with digital cameras.

Has anyone tried this before? will it work? I am eager to hear back from anyone who can provide further information as it seems that the Eye-Fi Home Card is perfect for my application!

Thanks in advance!!!

Nope. The Eye-Fi has no ability to work as a wireless adapter for a device. From the device's perspective the card is a "dumb" SD card. All of the wireless work is done by software/hardware on the card and it is specifically designed to transfer images (JPEG only, currently).

Thank you for the information! I figured that was the case, after all it would just be TOO perfect if the Eye-Fi Card was just what I was looking for right? hahaha Thanks again!

Is there a plan to support such functionality?

There is no decent Wifi+Storage SD card in the market for all of us who don't want to replaced their OLD PDA that doesn't have WiFi, and still want to use the with iGO for instance which has to located on the SD and not on the device's internal storage. for this (not so small market) such product would be very valuable
